1996–97 New York Rangers – Mark Messier Game-Used Gloves (Provenance LOA)

Available Now at Memorabilia.Expert.  During the 1996-97 NHL season, Wayne Gretzky joined the New York Rangers. Mark Messier remained captain and had an outstanding 84 point season for the team. Both superstars led the team to the Eastern Conference Finals, however they lost to the mighty Flyers led by Eric Lindros and the “Legion of Doom.”46330_01

 

Presented is a pair of Messier’s game worn hockey gloves from his time with the Rangers in 1996-97. They are Louisville TPS brand. Both gloves show great wear on both the exterior/interior especially concentrated in the palm stick grip areas. Messier’s number can be found handwritten in the interior wrist area in black felt tip “11”.

According to the provenance letter:

“These Mark Messier NY Rangers Game-Used Hockey Gloves, were gifted from Messier to a Steiner Sports Executive on a fishing trip in Vancouver in 1998. 

These gloves were then re-gifted to the current owner in 2010 for having a tremendous business relationship with Steiner Sports through the years.
