Presented is an incredible piece of memorabilia from the season that launched Bryce Harper into the stratosphere of baseball popularity. It is his game-worn catcher’s mask from his season at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) in 2010. Harper had a college leading 31 home runs that season with a wooden bat. After the standout season, Harper became the #1 Draft Pick of the Washington Nationals. The mask was obtained after the season in June of 2010 after Bryce had just signed it for his coach Tim Chambers. Harper signed it in silver paint pen in the interior with a bible verse.
The I Bar Vision blue mask is an exact photo match to the one seen on Getty Images (see photos) from the JUNCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO. Most noticeable are the scuff marks on the eye level front cage portion and dirt marks on the support straps. The mask was part of Harper’s gear that was worn throughout the season.
As a courtesy to the winner and provenance, a Rob Miech signed and personalized copy of “The Last Natural” will be included. The book is a remarkable story of Harper’s action-packed junior-college experience. The mask was obtained by Miech during the time period he was chronicling (for his book) “The Last Natural’s” rise through the college rankings.
