Presented is a 1950s Boston Red Sox game worn jacket attributed to Hall of Fame legend, Ted Williams. Perfect for the chilly fall, the front of the varsity style heavy wool coat features the distinct Red Sox logo in the form of chenille patch otherwise known as a letter patch. The dark blue jacket which has since aged (lightened and shows storage wear) is original with the snap closure buttons. It also features the classic Boston Red Sox red, navy blue and white accent trims.
The interior button path features a McAULLIFFE tag with the 24 LINCOLN ST. BOSTON Mass address. They were the supplier of team jackets. The attribution to Ted Williams comes from the “9” hand written in vintage felt tip in the collar area and the provenance. It originates from a longtime collector and archivist of Ted Williams / Boston Red Sox memorabilia. An original photo is included showing “The Splendid Splinter” in the dugout with this style of jacket autographing photos.
