1908 Occidental College Game-Used Football

This is the earliest-known football relic we have had the pleasure of offering. The great Occidental College and Ponoma rivalry was the USC-UCLA of its time. Back in 1908, before the Bruins and Trojans fielded gridiron squads, Occidental and Ponoma was the big game.

This 1908 presentation football shows the score "O.16-P.11" in white paint against the black background. The ball is stuffed and has some cracking. The ball, much heavier than today’s pigskin, leads us to believe most of the yards gained in the game were on the ground. The ball has stood the test of time and is a piece of California football history.
