Description

This pair of heavyweight, cream-colored pants were worn by Hall of Famer Bill McKechnie (and later by Andy High) in the late ‘20s. They were sourced with the Andy High jersey which may be found elsewhere in this catalog.
Made by the J. M. Sainz Co. (St. Louis) and sporting the manufacturer’s label in the inner waistband, the pants feature red side and pocket-edge piping, as well as five belt loops, a two-button fly and a metal waist clasp. Of particular note is the identifier between the two buttons – “McKechnie” – which is finely embroidered in black thread.
The lowermost extremity of the legs are cut, and it’s unknown whether they were worn this way for Spring Training or trimmed at some point thereafter. McKechnie, of course, coached and managed the Redbirds during this period; but ultimately, Andy High ended up with these rare trousers.
