The artist on this piece was Ernie Poggione who was a serviceman in the military. At one time he was the map maker for General Patton. His talent was in sign painting and drafting so he opened a sign shop in New York. This piece done for the Platt Music Company dates to 1926 (information in corner). It was hand-painted by Poggione and showcases the branding of the company (name & location) through a tropical ukulele theme. This type of artwork was used to promote the store and displayed out front as a miniature billboard. It measures 12×41 and included is a copy of Ernie’s background and army qualification records.
