The description for this item has been update. The catalog states this is a PSA 8 but it has been graded MINT 9.
Stemming from the Dutch Leonard and Ty Cobb (player-manager) feud, American League President Ban Johnson forced Tris Speaker and Cobb to resign as managers. However, “fix” accusations were unfounded and Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis cleared both and kept them in baseball. In 1927, Speaker went to play for the Washington Senators and Cobb the Philadelphia A’s. That same year (1927), the Exhibit Supply Company issued a set of 64 cards with each measuring 3-3/8″ x 5-3/8.” This green tinted card from the set shows Speaker ready to haul one in. It has all the appropriate identifiers (name – company info) on both bottom corners. Speaker autographed the card across his image in black ink. The signature was graded an “9” by PSA/DNA and the card was encapsulated for preservation.
