1928 Occidental College Game-Used Football (Presentation)
Out of stock
Description
There was a time when college football was infinitely more popular than the professional level. The NFL was thought to have been played by barbarians who drank beer and fought. College was linked to academics and more closely watched.
Occidental College was located in California. This was before USC and UCLA fielded football squads. Occidental’s main opponent was Ponoma College.
Offered is a presentation ball with "1928 O. 7 – P. 0" in orange paint. We assume that painting refers to a score of Occidental 7, Ponoma 0. The leather football is black. This may have been painted so the game’s particulars would stand out. The football has a mounting hole near the laces. It appears this football was stuffed as they didn’t use air bladders during this time period. Overall, a fine remembrance of football at it earliest stages.
