1929 Pilot License Signed by Orville Wright
Out of stock
‘To be carried on the recipient’s person at all times,’ as they would say, is this “Aviator’s Certificate”, officially executed on November 22, 1929. Now authorized to operate a heavier-than-air craft was one John F. Gill, who duly signed this license. The body vested to approve Mr. Gill this privilege was the “National Aeronautic Association of U.S.A”, and we’re particularly drawn to the bona fide signature of that institution’s governing chairman, Orville Wright. Held in hardbound covers (measuring 2 3/4″ x 4 1/8″), this license, we believe, is missing Mr. Gill’s photograph, but all of its other considerations are in order – complete with the sanctioning seal. The license is EX, but the central attraction, of course, is Orville Wright’s dry signature which he responsibly placed in fountain pen, and it yet emanates at a strength of “10”.
