Out of stock
On auction block: A 1930 FIFA World Cup Game-Used Soccer Match Ball. This 90-years old ball was one of the official match balls that were used in the FIFA World Cup 1930 Tournament. The 1930 FIFA World Cup was the inaugural FIFA World Cup the took place during July 1930 in Uruaguay. The final match was contested between Uruaguay and Argentina with Uruguay being the victor with a (4-2) result.
It should be noted that because of a dispute between Uruguay and Argentina, different balls were used in each half of each match during the tournament. Uruaguay and Argentina agreed to used the Argentina ‘Tiento’ 12-panel ball in the first half, and the Uruguay ‘T-shaped’ 12-panel ball in the second half. Those balls were hand made and sewed from leather panels, so there can be slight differences in the panel shape from match to match. The ball on offer is the Argentina ‘Tiento’ 12-panel match ball. As can be seen from the photos, the ball shows a tremendous wear and use. It has 5 pairs of holes, the overlapping laces are original. When the ball is shaked the original bladder rattles inside it. The ball still preserves its shape well. Overall, it is in a good condition with respect to its age.
Estimate: $6000 – $8000
