Description

1930s Original Berlin Olympics Photo by Leni Riefenstahl featuring Jesse Owens (Made From Gravure Plate) The vintage is mid-1930s and it was taken by Leni Riefenstahl who was a famous German photographer, actress and director known for "Olympia" her controversial film about the Berlin Olympics. Jesse Owens won four gold medals during the games. Here, he is shown ready to take off for his gold medal winning long jump. The photo comes from a photogravure (etched plates from original negatives) printing authorized by Riefenstahl and printed by Deutschen Verlag in 1937 (a year after the games) in Germany. Measures 6×7.5 on textured paper (matte finish) and the condition is Near Mint. The reverse has another Olympic competitor shown. This is because originally the printing was dual-sided. It should be noted this has no effect on the front image.
