1940 “Knute Rockne – All-American” Movie Premiere Program

SKU: 25565 Category:

There are few, if any, more famous sports motion pictures than “Knute Rockne – All American”, which details the life and times of the legendary Notre Dame football coach. Indeed, who can forget the memorable line “Win one for the Gipper”, the impassioned plea of George Gipp (Ronald Reagan) on his deathbed? This is a program from the movie’s world premiere on Oct. 4, 1940, in – where else? – South Bend, Ind. Of special note is the splendid condition of the offered piece. Bound by gold cord, the blue velour cover grades EX/MT, as very slight edge and corner wear are the only noticeable flaws. Covered by textured onion-skin end papers, the six inside pages are decidedly NM/MT and list the all-star cast: Reagan, Pat O’Brien (Rockne), Donald Crisp (Fr. Callahan) and Gale Page (Mrs. Rockne) as well as football greats Alonzo Stagg and Pop Warner, who played themselves. How many of these programs exist, let alone in this condition?
