1942 WWII VJ-6 Photos – (2) From Traverse City Incl. Arrival of Officers & Supervisory Board
Presented are some items from the distinguished estate of U.S. Navy Commodore Oscar Smith, Jr.
“Oscar Smith was a officer and graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (1908) who rose to the rank commodore during WWII and in 1944 became the head of the Guided Missiles Committee convened to explore every possible guided-missile and drone project. He was also a recipient of the Legion of Merit medal.”
There are two photo displays in this lot. They are both dated to 1942-43 on the cardstock portion. Cardstock portion shows some aging (see photo). Each measures 8-3/4″ x 13-3/4″ with black and white photos (affixed) – photos themselves measure 7-3/4″ x 9-1/2″ .
