Description

Presented is a vintage original yearbook, not a copy of any kind. It’s named the Campus Echo, and was the yearbook for the Nisei in the largest of the Japanese internment camps (i.e. concentration camps) in the U.S. during WWII. The U.S. government built a camp at Poston, AZ and constructed a school for the Japanese. They named the internment camp school Parker Valley High and this is their yearbook.

Remarkable book has about 100 pages of students going through “ordinary” school life like Homecoming, Senior King & Queen, sports, Student Council, etc. All against a backdrop that looks more like Auschwitz than a city. Even the teams are named by the block number. Of course, all the students are named and photographed.

Book is in very good condition with a cover split at the spine but still a tight binding. Excellent history of one of America’s most shameful mistakes that current politicians seem to want to repeat.
