1947 Brooklyn Doders World Series Press Pin

Out of stock

SKU: 10171 Category:

In the second of several post season tilts between the inter-borough belligerents, the Dodgers directed the making of this handsome press pin to represent their privilege to play in the World Series. The year was 1947, and the imagery of this pin succinctly honors the franchise for that joyous event. A likeness of one of the towers of the Brooklyn Bridge foregrounds a bat and, in turn, the identity of the celebration is announced in blue enamel around the perimeter. Clearly, this is one of their more ingenious creations, yet the Bums were ultimately vanquished in seven games. We caution the reader here that the 1947 Brooklyn was once the victim of illicit reproduction. The trained eye can detect subtle nuances between the two, and we are fully assured that the offered pin dates to the original purchase order in 1947. In every respect, this relic is above criticism. The enamel is unharmed, and the plated surfaces untarnished. It’s manufacturer, Dieges & Clust, is properly identified on the reverse, and the piece retains its original threaded post with corresponding nut. NM/MT.
