Description
Presented is a great lot of historical memorabilia related to America’s greatest inventor, Thomas Edison.
By the time Mina Miller (aka Mrs. Thomas A. Edison) met Thomas Edison, his name was already a household word. She had a more worldly education, having graduated from Akron High School and having attended Miss Abby H. Johnson’s Home & Day School for Young Ladies in Boston. Besides, her father was a millionaire inventor himself.
In the collection, is a trio of First Day Covers (FDCs) that were signed by Mr. Thomas A. Edison (Mina Miller) in celebration of his 100th Anniversary. The three envelopes feature commemorative stamps and were postmarked to Feb. 11, 1947 (his birthday). All three cachets show signs of saturation from storage (see photos). Also important to note, is that she died shortly thereafter in August of 1947 making her autograph on these items particularly more desirable.
