Description

The 1947 Philadelphia Athletics season involved the A’s finishing fifth in the American League with a record of 78 wins and 76 losses. Except for a fifth-place finish in 1944, the A’s finished in last or next-to-last place every year from 1935-46. In 1947, Connie Mack not only got the A’s out of last place, but actually finished with a winning record for the first time in 14 years.

Presented is a 1947 Philadelphia Athletics team-signed OAL  (Harridge) baseball –  Signed by 22 members they are Connie Mack- (on sweet spot and is a clubhouse). Signers on the aged ball in blue (“7-8”) include: HOFer Al Simmons, Dave Keefe, Ray Poole, Chet Laabs, Don Richmmond, Buddy Rosar, Earle Brucker, Sr., Lena Blackburne, Eddie Joost, Russ Christopher,  Dick Fowler, Pete Suder, Sam Chapman, Joe Coleman, Hank Majeski ,George Binks , Ferris Fain, Phil Marchildon and two others.
