1948 A.A.F.C. Championship Press Pin (Browns vs. Bills)
Out of stock
By 1948, it was clearly apparent that there was considerable imbalance in the A.A.F.C. There were still eight teams in the circuit (comprising two divisions), but these teams were characterized by radical differences in talent, leadership, and attendance. Ultimately, the Buffalo Bills (unrelated to the modern franchise by the same name) won the Eastern Division by a dubious 8-7 record while the Cleveland Browns steamrolled through the season, winning all 14 of its regular season games. On December 19th, the combatants faced off in Cleveland where the Browns crushed the Buffalo eleven by a score of 49-7. Available from that contest is a press pin – awarded to each player and member of the media. Dimensionally and stylistically identical to the pin dispensed in ’47, this pin was manufactured as a charm, but to include a threaded post (this one retains the original nut). It is virtually perfect in every consideration – NM/MT – and this pin represents a memento from professional football’s first perfect season, ultimately 15-0.
