1948 Wrigley Field Calendar Display
Out of stock
The Cubs’ sphere of influence, of course, has always been in the upper Midwest. In 1948, a syndicated automobile dealership from that geography sponsored the preparation and distribution of this wonderfully graphic and highly informative calendar display. An idealized artistic scene of Wrigley Field commands our view. (The World Series bunting, naturally, hadn’t been displayed there since ’45.) The lower two-thirds of the display provides extensive statistics from the concluding 1947 season, and that information is framed by portrait photos of 1947’s All-Star selections from both leagues. Unlike most calendars of the past, this one hasn’t been violated – it begins with January, 1948. Overall, it’s a highly conspicuous piece measuring 16″ x 33″. There’s some reasonably harmless damage in the text area at the lower left, but in its totality, this piece would be accepted in most collections at EX+ to EX/MT condition.
