Roy Campanella. Carl Furillo. Gil Hodges. Joe Medwick. Pee Wee Reese. Pete Reiser. Jackie Robinson. Duke Snider. Dixie Walker . . . The names resound of the beloved Bums of Brooklyn – symbols of perhaps the most romantic era that baseball has ever known.
With the Boys of Summer in mind, we present this rare complete collection of 12 Brooklyn Dodger yearbooks, which we present individually. The group includes the 1941, 1942, 1947, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956 and 1957 issues in various, but highly acceptable conditions.
Of particular note are the 1942, 1947 and 1955 issues. For reasons unclear, the consensus is that the second (or 1942) publication is more difficult to locate than the first edition. The 1947 issue details the historic arrival of Robinson (in addition to that of manager Burt Shotten) in the form of an unnumbered page, which was inserted in the yearbook after the start of the season. Of course, the 1955 edition marks the season in which the Bums captured their long-awaited and sole World Series championship.
Binding wear, corner creases and moderate wear on both covers render this copy a VG grade.
