Then, speaking of dynasties, we cite the Minneapolis Lakers of the early ’50s. Not dissimilar to the Yankees of the same era, the Lakers swept upon the period capturing all but one NBA Championship from ’48/49 – ’53/54. Midway through those glorious seasons – 1951/52, to be exact – the entire roster, including HOF coach John Kundla, signed this basketball. (A very minor qualification to this assertion – missing on the ball is a certain “Pep Saul” who was rostered but didn’t appear in any Lakers’ games that season.) This particular team ultimately sent five luminaries to Springfield’s Hall of Fame. The medium is a Wilson child’s model basketball. For the most part, the surface seams have separated (leaving clean fissures), but the ball is still adequately inflated. The authgraphs, in total, appear on three adjoining panels, thereby providing their composite view from a fixed vantage. They are ballpoint signatures; all are legible, but due to the subdued surface color, they are about “trong>6” in strength. Foremost, to be sure, is the penning of “Mr. Basketball”, George Mikan, whose signing appears toward the right side of the middle panel affording ideal display. In their entirety, these 1951/52 champions include: Bob Harrison, Lew Hitch, Joe Hutton, trong>John Kundla, trong>Slater Martin, trong>George Miken (“trong>7”, signing “Geo Miken“), trong>Vern Mikkelsen, Johnny Pilch, trong>Jim Pollard, Howie Schultz, and Whitey Skoog.
