Description
This is a marvelous program, one that remains in EX/MT-NM condition. Unscored and hosting the Boston Red Sox. Ted Williams batted clean-up in this one. Clean and firmly bound, this is piece is requisite to the worthy Yankee vs. Red Sox rivalry collection.”For New York, batting second … number 6, MICK-ey … MANNN-tle!” So resonated through the Yankee public address system in early 1951. Indeed, the 19-year-old hopeful was initially issued uniform #6. And able historians of the game are immediately aware of the little detail in Yankee annals. But for full corroboration, we offer this 1951 regular season program; sure enough – there, on the scorecard, is the preprinted identity listing “6 Mantle r.f.” And, as to be expected, … “Batting fourth, centerfielder … number 5, Joe … Di-MAGgiooooo!”
