SKU: 6796 Category:

Phenomenal and complete uniform from the beloved Bums, an all but unheard of rarity in the collecting world. This incredible home white flannel ensemble was worn during a National League Championship year, and issued to baseball footnote Dick Teed, a journeyman player, catcher and manager, and lifelong baseball man who got a single chance to bat in the Major Leagues while on the Dodger roster during the last two months of the 1953 season, joining the club in July, replacing an injured Rube Walker. He retired a career .000 ML batter. The rare coveted flannel offers the distinctive blue felt scripted “Dodgers” and red number “37” on the chest, and “37” again on back, with “Rawlings [size] 42” tagging inside collar. Embroidered in tail in blue thread is, “Extra 53.” Matching pants once belonged to pitcher Ben Wade, whose surname is stitched (“Wade 52-2”)in the waistband above the “Rawlings [size] 36” tagging. Includes the all-but-impossible blue wool stirrups ad even the original Dodger-blue leather belt! All pieces show their age, with some very minor loss to the felt of the jersey, but nothing detracts from the overall appeal and excitement of this 50 year-old treasure. It displays wonderfully, and instantly transports the viewer to a sunny day in Flatbush when all was right in the world.
