1954 Yankees Team-Signed Ball

Out of stock

SKU: 7526 Category:

Peculiar it is that a Yankee team-signed ball from the ’50’s doesn’t reflect a championship team. 1954, however, witnessed a powerhouse squad in Cleveland, and the Yankees settled for 2nd place with their 103 regular-season victories. Nonetheless, in the course of that remarkable season, 28 of those Yankees autographed this offered OAL (Harridge) ball. The ball is qualified by small, light blisters as well as a small stain partially obscuring about three of the ‘common’ signatures. Its vintage is determined by the inclusion of Frank Leja, Jim McDonald and Harry Byrd – who were Yankee teammates in ’54 exclusively. The strength of these autographs ranges about “3-6” yet all are quite discernible. Rizzuto and Reynolds appear on the sweet spot, and then the side panels bear – Tom Morgan, Johnny Sain, Jerry Coleman, Eddie Robinson, Whitey Ford, Ed Lopat, Yogi Berra, Enos Slaughter, Hank Bauer, Jim Turner, Andy Carey, Gil McDougald, Bill Skowron, Charlie Silvera, Bob Kuzava, Willie Miranda, Bobby Brown, Bob Grim, Gene Woodling, Ralph Houk, Mickey Mantle (“5-6”), Tom Gorman and Irv Noren.
