1957 Bob Chakales Game-Worn Red Sox Flannel Jersey

SKU: 44678 Category:

The Boston Red Sox do not favor change and that’s what makes the BoSox so special. The jersey design used in 1957 is the same as today’s players take the field with. While the materials have changed, the image remains the same. This size “42” jersey could have been worn by three different players during the 1957 season – Faye Throneberry, Murray Wall or Bob Chakales. We assume Chakales wore the flannel button-up as he appeared in 18 games. (Wall pitched in 11 contests while Throneberry participated in a single game.)

The jersey shows decent overall wear. The heavy flannel has a few moth holes on front. Red braiding runs down the button path, neck and sleeve ends. “RED SOX” is spelled across the front in two-color felt material. Both underarms are equipped with vents. A Tim McAuliffe tag is sewn in the tail. “42 2 ins. 57” is stitched directly to the jersey as well.
