1957 Topps Football Card Lot w/ Graded SGC Johnny Unitas, Bart Starr & Paul Hornung

Topps 1957 Football set consists of 154 cards, each measuring the newly standard-sized 2-1/2” by 3-1/2”. A player portrait is placed side-by-side with an “action” scene on the front of each horizontally oriented piece, with the athletes’ names, teams and positions also identified. They released its 1957 set in two series: the first group of 88 cards was followed by a smaller, 66-card run of “High Numbers, ” with the latter containing the “big three” of the rookie crop.

This lot of 1957 Topps features 131/154 cards in the set with four duplicates. The cards are in starter set grade condition with some better than others. See photos for condition assessment.

The highlights are the graded rookie cards encapsulated and graded by SGC including Bart Starr #119 GD+ 2.5, Johnny Unitas #138 VG 3 and Paul Hornung #151 VG-EX 4.

The lot from the set is also anchored by depictions of George Blanda, Frank Gifford, Bobby Layne and Y.A. Tittle. Other first-year Hall of Famer appearances include cards of  “Night Train” Lane and Tommy McDonald.
