Joe Namath attracted plenty of attention to himself with his outlandish attire, boyish good looks and boastful attitude. Pete Perreault was one of the men who helped make Namath the superstar quarterback he indeed was.
It was Perreault who opened holes for the running backs and bought time for Namath to find his receivers. Oh, the plight of an offensive lineman! Judging by its evident use, we can safely assume Perreault used this suspension Kralite helmet for more than one season. A bounty of deep gouges distinguish the white impregnated shell which bears two green stripes extending from front to back. Even the Jets’ team logos have scratches and marks of many violent collisions. The “bubble ears” feature certainly adds to this already remarkable piece of headgear. A direct photo match is on-line and will be furnished to the top bidder. The flaking on the Jets logo is clearly evident on the photo and on this helmet. The inside features “64” written in black marker, and a red dot is visible on the facemask. We believe the facemask and leather jaw pads are original. This helmet was first sourced from Perreault’s family, and a letter signed by his daughter accompanies. The letter states this helmet was worn in the mid ’60s, which translates to the AFL days. A fabulous AFL helmet sourced from the family, with a photo match and tremendous use.
