1962-64 Pittsburgh Steelers “Black Player, Toes-Up” Nodder

SKU: 19041 Category:

In implementing new variety to the genre of so-called “toes-up” NFL Bobbin’ Heads, there briefly appeared a series of black player imaged dolls. These were likely available from 1962 to ’64, and it’s speculated that their sales were scant. Offered is the Pittsburgh Steelers rendering from that production. With its wire facemask, this piece is clean, and we qualify its condition to note that a light/mild crack appears on the helmet’s right side (just behind the chinstrap), and that a small chip appears under the helmet, corresponding to the left shoulder. The helmet’s surface has about a half dozen spots of mild discoloration. Conversely, it appears that this bobbin’ head has never undergone any restoration. Except for those above-mentioned details, this is a very attractive doll with fully unblemished decals and an undamaged base.
