In the aftershocks of the dramatic 1961 slugging performances of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris, promoters of every description fell over each other to capture licensing of the Yankee pillars. Endorsement opportunities were aplenty, but one of the major prizes that the pair savored was a full length cinema titled "Safe at Home." Mantle and Maris were cast as themselves in this fantasy romp with Hutch Lawton, the "luckiest kid in the world."

To stimulate distribution of the movie, Columbia Pictures circulated this very visual synopsis of the film. The recipients were theater houses exclusively, and because these were strictly a commercial promotion, they were highly disposable. This one obviously survived. Printed on both sides, the mailer unfolds to 15-1/2" x 37" (collapsing to 7-3/4" x 14"). Nearly every Mantle-Maris-Yankee-movie enthusiast recollects the very familiar image of Mantle and Maris from this movie – in their back-to-back posturing. This circular, however, provides several different stills pertinent to the film. The piece is in about EX condition. Naturally, it has machine creasing (for intended compacting), and there are the beginnings of a couple stress tears at the seams. Yet it is clean overall, with no distractions. Ultimately, this is an impressive two-sided display, one that emphatically underscores that slugging saga of ’61.
