1962 Stan Musial Game-Used Glove (Bronzed) – Given to Cubs Broadcaster Jack Quinlan
Out of stock
Description
Stan Musial game-used gloves are virtually nonexistent in the sports memorabilia industry. According to glove expert Denny Esken, this is the first Musial game-used glove he has ever seen available to the public. However, this mitt was bronzed when its playings days expired. Stan the Man presented the offered glove to beloved Cubs broadcaster Jack Quinlan. Engraved on a placard near the palm is "From Stan Musial to Jack Quinlan – May 3, 1963." Tragically, Quinlan perished in a car accident two years after receiving this treasure from the Hall of Fame slugger.
According to Esken, the glove was used in 1962. Manufactured using Heart-of-the-Hide Horween leather, the 11-1/2-inch model RSP Rawlings glove has a pro-style H-web and a deep-well pocket. The offered style of Rawlings glove was preferred by many outfielders from this era, and Musial was one of Rawlings’ most supportive endorsers. The Rawlings label is still intact on the wriststrap.
Although this beauty has been bronzed, it will provide one lucky hobbyist the joy of owning a prized Stan the Man memento.
Authentication comes via a signed letter from Jack Quinlan Jr. and an LOA from Esken.
