Description
Presented is a 1966-67 Boston Bruins Bobby Orr game used hockey stick. This was from Orr’s rookie season. It is original without any alterations. It is a Northland Custom Pro with a very early handle tape job done by Orr. This is the style of tape job that can be referenced by other auction house sales. He would first use black bulldog tape then wrap it with white tape. The stick itself is a straight blade (Lie 5). NORTHLAND SKIS, ST. PAUL MINN U.S.A. is stamped on the shaft twice.
Also to note Orr wis written twice in felt tip on the shaft with his #4. The Bulldog tape is on the blade and stops short of the heal (indicative of his rookie sticks).
There are 18 signatures in pen on the shaft along with the date 11-13-66 (assuming when it was given to the owner). Signers include HOFers Bobby Orr, John Bucyk and Bernie Parent. The keys include M. Oliver, G. Cheevers, D. Smith, J. McKenzie, R. Murphy, E. Westfall, T. Williams, B. Dilabough, J. Watson and others.
Of note, the stick is cracked at the end of the blade and overall shows tremendous game use.
The game use on the stick was authenticated by Rich Ellis of The Spirit of the Game and he provided a LOA. The autographs were authenticated by a full LOA from JSA.
JSA Full Letter, rich ellis the spirit of the game
