1966 Non-Sport Musician/Hot Rod Cards (w/Elvis, Beatles et al.) Near Set
Out of stock
It’s a near certainty that these cards were issued in Europe, most likely in Holland. But from there, the information regarding their lineage is sketchy, at best. Available in this collection are 49 different, and they’re numbered 1 through 50, missing only #12. They measure about 6 x 9 cm (about 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″). Uniformly, color images of popular musicians and rock groups appear on one side of each, and their reverses then project black & white photos of high-energy cars. There are no captions on the color fronts, but the reverses bear the identities of the featured music celebrities, the model of the automobiles, and the card number. That all the cars are “1966” provides the issue’s vintage. As for the musical celebrities, we behold such luminaries as Elvis, the Beatles, the Stones, Herman’s Hermits and Gene Pitney to name a few. (Equally, there are a lot of obscurities here as well … popular in Europe only). The hot rods are impressive too … citing Ferrari, Ford Lotus, Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, and a Chevrolet Mako Shark among many others.
We’re told that the missing card, #12, is Elton John. And as for the condition of this group, we report that cards 1, 2, and 50 are about VG, while all the others are EX or stronger – averaging EX/MT.
