Description
In 1967, Purdue won the Rose Bowl against USC in Pasadena, California by a score of 14-13. Bob Griese, Perry Williams, George Catavolos, and John Charles were among the standouts for the Boilermakers in this game. The Boilers were coached by Jack Mollenkopf, who now has a training facility at Purdue named after him.
Presented is a 1967 Rose Bowl Championship ring attributed to linebacker Dick Marvel. The 10k gold ring displays “PURDUE – ROSE BOWL CHAMPIONS” squared around a center onyx gemstone with “P” in gold. One flank showcases 1967 along with an image of the Rose Bowl Stadium. The other flank features a banner with “R. MARVEL”, a football helmet with a “42” and the score “Purdue 14 – U.S.C. 13. “HERFF JONES HJ 10K” stamped in the band. The ring is a size 10.5 and weighs 22.2 grams. The ring shows wear/aging throughout.
