This ABA memento hearkens to one of the most curious chapters in professional sports history. In 1967, the Oaks became charter members of the newly organized American Basketball Association, and finished dead last in league play. Management responded by signing Rick Barry and Larry Brown, and hiring NBA legend Alex Hannum as head coach. The team responded with a meteoric rise to first place, bested their rivals in the playoffs, and then swept the Indiana Pacers, 4-0, to win the ABA Championship. The Oaks only added to their mystique by promptly folding the following year and moving to Washington D.C. Collecting enthusiasts are treated to this colorful Oaks window poster documenting the home schedule of that miraculous championship season. Presented on 11″ x 17″ sturdy cardstock, the piece remains in Near Mint condition with only incidental wear at the corners.
