1968 Cardinals Team-Signed Ball (w/Roger Maris and Steve Carlton)
Out of stock
A star-studded bunch it was that captured the National League pennant in 1968. These were the St. Louis Cardinals, with their overpowering mound corps, commanding speed on the basepaths, and a very capable aptitude at the plate. It was during that campaign when 27 of their numbers converged to put their hand to this ONL (Giles) baseball. The surface of this ball is lightly/mildly toned (not to corrupt any of the otherwise “6-8” signatures). Unique to the Cardinal roster that year was the able backstop Johnny Edwards, whose penning appears on this ball. We’re particularly impressed by the inclusion of the young phenom, Steve Carlton, who was generally loathe to sign (as it “interrupted his concentration”). With those matters in mind, we invite our readers to consider: Nellie Briles, trong>Lou Brock, trong>Steve Carlton, Cepeda (clubhouse), Ron Davis, Johnny Edwards, trong>Curt Flood, trong>Bob Gibson, Phil Gagliano, Wayne Granger, Joe Hoerner, Dick Hughes, Larry Jaster, Julian Javier, trong>Roger trong>Maris (“6”), Dal Maxvill, Tim McCarver, Bob Milliken, Billy Muffett, Mel Nelson, trong>Red Schoendienst (sweet spot), Dick Schofield, Mike Shannon, Ted Simmons, Ed Spiezio, Bobby Tolan, Ray Washburn, and one other.
