Description

We are proud to present the definitive piece of autographed Rock ‘n’ Roll memorabilia, The Doors’ 1968 negotiated royalties contract entered into with their record company, Elektra. The first page of the two-page document is initialed by each, and the second page has been signed by all band members – Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore. The signings are all full signatures and grade fully 10/10.
The Doors were formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by Jim Morrison (vocals), and Ray Manzarek on keyboards. They hired Robbie Krieger on guitar, and John Densmore on drums. Their first record deal was with Elektra in 1966, and they released “The Doors” the following year. Their debut album featured the hit “Light My Fire.” With their blues and classic roots, the group was arguably the most original pop bands of the psychedelic era. This great talent, added to the charisma of Morrison, immediately elevated the band to world fame.

Along with the unique contract, this compelling display holds a full ticket to one of the Doors’ live concerts at the KRNT Theater in Des Moines from the autumn of 1967. A Doors performance was unlike any other rock concert. On stage, Morrison’s arrogance and vulgarity, fueled by an affinity to drugs and alcohol, caused strife in the band. But their fans remained loyal and Morrison was yet acclaimed a megastar of his generation.
This beautiful display also holds the front and back jacket of their first album, simply titled “The Doors.” After the release of “L.A. Woman”, Morrison began to deteriorate, consumed by depression. In an attempt to revitalize, he fled to Paris with his wife, Pamela. July 3rd 1971 the news broke that the Doors’ lead singer, Jim Morrison, was dead. The official cause was recorded as a heart attack – he was only 27 years old. Morrison is now buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris in the midst of such fame as Balzac, Molière and Oscar Wilde.

The Doors today are legendary, Jim Morrison is still considered one of the most important voices in rock ‘n’ roll. His lyrics and poetry, though cryptic at times, were spiritual in nature. It’s clear that Jim Morrison possessed a vast perception of life’s metaphysical planes.

The contract presented here is a legal document between the Doors and their record company. Documents dealing with a performer’s income and/or livelihood provide the highest level of fidelity in authenticity. With that consideration, we invite the reader to savor the magnificence of this beautiful and unique display celebrating The Doors.
