1969 Don Mincher Seattle Pilots Game Worn Helmet

Out of stock

SKU: 18197 Category:

On the strength of dymo tape applied to the reverse, we interpret that this helmet was furnished for Don Mincher. Mincher, it will be remembered, was the fixture at first base for the storied 1969 Seattle Pilots. His home run prowess that season was among the few bright spots for the one-year franchise. In flexing his power that season, he wore this offered batting helmet. It shows light use, suggesting (but not affirming) that he didn’t use it through the full season. By good fortune then, this helmet’s painted details and decaled “scrambled eggs” are virtually undamaged. A positively sensational relic surviving from one of baseball’s most celebrated failures.
