1969 New York Mets World Series Press Pin

To serve as the centerpiece for any worthy New York Mets memorabilia collection is the press pin that was dispensed for the team’s 1969 World Series. The Amazin’ Mets, as victims of nearly a decade of ridicule, silenced their accusers in ’69 by vanquishing the Orioles in the grand tilt of October competition. For the games hosted in Shea Stadium, press pins, as illustrated by this one, were distributed to media and friends of the franchise. The pin is the standard needle post-with-clutch variety (there were a few charms manufactured), and it’s qualified by a barely detectable chip in far upper left corner of the enamel; otherwise, the pin is very clean with pure plating. Technically Excellent, but aesthetically much stronger.
