Description

Gorgeous relic and signed memento honoring the final year of the colorful league and arguably, it’s most consistent and prized franchise. Obtained directly from the estate of Hall of Famer (and head coach) Sid Gillman, this offering documents the near-complete roster of the AFL 1969 San Diego Chargers and features 37 vintage signatures rendered on the ideal medium; namely, an official Spalding J5-V AFL football branded with bold logos and signature of commissioner Pete Rozelle. Includes bold autograph from Hall of Famer Ron Mix as well as ’69 AFL Pro-Bowlers John Hadl, Dickie Post, Willie Frazier, Walt Sweeney, Steve DeLong, plus Jim Tolbert, Jim Van Huesen (mgr), Bob Briggs, Bob Wells, Pete Mikolajewski, Russ Washington, Jeff Staggs, Larry Rentz, Tom Denman, Marty Domres, Dennis Partee, Sam Gruniesen, Ron Billingsley, Brad Hubbard, Gene Huey, Dan Sartin, Richard Trapp, Rick Redman, Joe Beauchamp, Dick Farley, Jim Phillips (coach) and Gene Ferguson. Worth noting ball that also offers the notation, “3/19/70”, adjacent to the laces. One can also reasonably assume this ball also documents the last time this group of Gillman-led vets assembled as an AFL squad. NM.
