The Washington Senators gave our nation’s capital a little levity from the daily starch of politics. While never wildly successful on the field, the Senators still entertained crowds at R.F.K. Stadium for over a decade. This size “42” button-up flannel jersey was worn in Spring Training leading to the 1969 season as evidenced by its MLB 100th Anniversary patch on the left sleeve. (Nobody wore #63 for the Senators in ’69, thus it was used before the team broke camp.) Wonderful use is exhibited with delicious puckering on the two-color twill identifiers. “SENATORS” is underscored on the front between the second and third buttons. “1969” is embroidered in the tail. A Wilson size label appears in the collar. Built-in vent holes apppear under the arms. One slight repair is located on the left shoulder but we doubt it was team instituted. A solid Senators representation with an original MLB commemorative patch.
