A 1970 FIFA World Cup Participation Medal relating to the 1970 Brazil Squad (Champions). This original FIFA 1970 World Cup Participation medal measures approximately 1.75″ in diameter and weighs approximately 47.2 grams. The medal features Aztec figures to the front with the wording “El Futbol Lazo de Amistad Entre Las Naciones”. The resverse side features an image of the Jules Rimet trophy with the wording: “IX Campeonato Mundial de Futbol 1970, Mexico, 46.13 grs, Plata Pura”. The medal is believed to be Silver. This particular medal was brought back to Brazil after the tournament by a member of the Brazil staff. The medal was one of many items left uncollected by the players, and it is unknown what player or staff member was the original recipient of this medal during the tournament. Upon close inspection, you will come to find this item in the following condition: Overall, the medal remains very clean with very little patina. There is some light wear to the sides of the medal, with some of the engraving to the side smoothing out somewhat. Overall, very good condition for it’s age.
