Description
1970 Minnesota Twins all original flannel jersey worn by the son of the 8 time All Star and 3 time batting champion Tony Oliva.
The Spalding road gray size “40” jersey shows quality game use with very nice and consistent washing and puckering throughout and remains in outstanding condition. This is an actual game-used Twins jersey, but it was more than likely worn by Tony Oliva’s son, in a Father-Son game, hence, the smaller size “40” vs. Oliva’s normal size of “42” and larger.
The jersey has the Twins logo on the left sleeve and “40 70 Set 2” chain stitched into the hem along with “Spalding” size 40 flap tag.  According to Twins Equipment Manager and Clubhouse Attendants, the Spalding flannels would not have the name embroidered in the tail, but rather would have the name embroidered on a strip tag in the collar. 1970 was the only year their was no players name sewn into the tail of the Spalding jersey.

“6” numeral on back zig zag stitching is a looser stitch then the team and patch stitching. This is indicative of team applying the numeral at a later date which was not unusual. Stitching on the “6” also indicates there was some repair to the numeral. Numeral stitching has come undone on the interior of the “6.” Reminants of stitches in collar indicate that there was a tag in the collar.
Tough to get vintage flannels in good condition without moth holes. This is one of the better representations of a 1970’s flannel.
The jersey is accompanied by a Letter of Provenance & 100% Team.
In addition, there is great provenance on the flannel, making it that more special and important.  The letter states: “My Grandfather Was Roy Partee who was a Major League Baseball Player and after he retired became a Scout for many years.  These items are part of his collection of personal items that were passed on to my Dad Ray Partee and then onto me when he passed in 2014.”
