1971 Willie McCovey Game-Worn Flannel Pants

Willie McCovey must have looked 10 feet tall when he sauntered to the plate. The imposing 6’4″ and 210-pound monster cracked 521 home runs during a Hall of Fame career. McCovey wore these flannel pants in 1971 – the final year flannels were favored by MLB teams. A bum knee plagued the big man in ’71 although he did appear in 105 games and connected on 18 round trippers. “MCCOVEY” is swiss-embroidered in the inner waistline as are “36 29” in black thread. A McAuliffe Uniform Corp. tag and “71” year swatch identify the pants as being used in 1971. Orange/black/orange braiding streams down the sides for aesthetic pleasure. The pants showcase decent big league use and are free of any moth holes or rips of any kind.
