Rick Barry’s motor never stopped churning. It could be a practice, pickup game or actual hardcourt combat, it didn’t really matter. While known by today’s generation as the hoopster who shot free throws underhanded, Rick Barry was a hero for his era. To this day, Barry still holds one distinction which will never be equaled – He led the NCAA, ABA and NBA in scoring at some point in his career.

This [size] “46” durene jersey was worn by Barry during his remarkable championship run in 1974-75 with the Golden State Warriors. This team wasn’t supposed to challenge for NBA supremacy, but qualified for the playoffs and caught fire in a bottle. On the biggest stage, the Warriors shocked the heavily favored Washington Bullets. The jersey was made in the fall of 1974 and used in the 74-75 season. Tremendous wear is shown with degradation on the screened-on numerals on the back. The screening did not adhere well to the durene material. While the numerals are screened on, “BARRY” is sewn directly to the jersey in single-color blue. A felt strip tag reads “46 74 5.” The “5” refers to the set number. This was the last year that the Warriors wore the attractive durene jerseys. They switched to a mesh type of material the following year. What makes this one a real keeper is that it’s made of durene material, much preferred by vintage jersey collectors. While the design may not be as catchy as the regretable “cable car” design, this style of Golden State jersey takes a backseat to none.
