Description

1975 Chicago Winds WFL Harry Howard Game-Worn Jersey

In 1975, before its second season was even over the World Football League folded. Playing off the city’s nickname, the Chicago Winds were the successor to the Chicago Fire in 1975. The Winds played at Soldier Field and the team was in the WFL’S Western Division.

The Winds owner prior to the seaon was trying to sign Joe Namath to a contract. Reports were that Namath was going to retire or be traded to another team. The Winds in their recruiting effort changed their colors to Jets colors green and white. This rare jersey was worn by saftey Harry Howard. He played for the Chicago Fire and Winds before joining Charlotte and later the NFL Jets for one game. Classic white with green “28” identifiers on front/back/shoulders – striping on sleeves. Jersey has collar tagging with manufactuer Red Fox with wash instructions size L – fabric flap underneath. Includes official Winds letterhead sheet, stats and photos of Howard. Overall a great treasure from the short-lived WFL.
