Carl Yastrzemski still had that magic touch in Boston in the ’77 season. His customary good stats were a mere given: .296 average, 28 home runs and 102 runs batted in. That year also witnessed his last in taking home a Gold Glove. The Boston favorite wore this [size] “42” V-neck jersey when he took the show on the road that season. Great wear is shown with consistent puckering on the identifiers, which are sewn directly to the jersey in two-color tackle twill. “BOSTON” is scripted in Old English font on the front. Tail tagging includes a year “1977” tag and washing instructions swatch. There are tags in the collar as well. A McAuliffe Uniform Corp. tag is placed in the collar, as is a size tag. Yaz put a large signature on the front, directly below the Boston script in blue felt tip. The signature rates “8”, but still adds luster to the rare jersey. Boston has seen the likes of Teddy Ballgame, Rocketman and Nomah, yet none have provided the team with the longevity that the man they called Yaz did.
