1977 Fernando Gonzalez Game-Worn Pirates Jersey/Pants w/Gonzalez Letter

Fashionably speaking, the Pittsburgh Pirates left little to chance in the late ’70s. Affectionately known as the bumblebee style, this jersey/pants combination was used from 1977-79. You couldn’t mistake those Bucs of the late ’70s.

This home white jersey was worn by Fernando Gonzalez when he played for the Pirates in 1977. The name on front and numbers are created in two-color formation. The front numbers and name as well as the sleeve ends have faded, possibly from being in a frame or exposure. Black/yellow/black surrounds the ribbed V-neck and sleeve ends. A number change has been instituted. It appears the jersey was in the 50s, thus it may have been used in Spring Training or late in the season when teams expand their rosters. The tail is hand-cut. Appearing in the tail are the following tags: Descente, fabric content/washing instructions and a "Set 1 1977" flag tag.

Also included in this offering are the pants which Gonzalez wore. All of the correct tags are in-place. A letter from Gonzalez will be forwarded to the winning bidder and serve as authentication.
