Description
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Muhammad Ali had a very successful career with his uncanny ability to move quickly and oddly enough, take a punch. Ali battled some fierce foes in the ring. Sonny Liston, then George Foreman in the famed “Rumble in the Jungle” and then finally after a defeat by Leon Spinks in a 15-round decision he won the title back in an August rematch.
Presented is a 1978 Muhammad Ali Championship 14k gold ring. This was not the original given to Ali but it was commissioned in design by him for close personal friends and family. This one in particular was obtained through a professional relationship Ali had with a fighter.
The royal design is dominated by a crown set within a red tablet cut stone on the face, three cubic zirconias representing each of Heavyweight Championship attained by boxing’s greatest. “M. Ali, World Champion Three Times” is on the perimeter of the bezel. Left shank, in Ali’s hyped persona, “The Greatest Heavyweight World Champion.” Right shank showcases “Muhammad Ali, S. Liston-G. Foreman-L. Spinks, ’64, ’74, ’78 (on a raised boxing glove). Interior band is stamped “14k Jostens.” Size is a 16.
