Description
Due in part to Wayne Gretzky’s command of the ice during his playing days, hockey has become more popular across the country. The set that proves to be a winner is the O-Pee-Chee 1979-80 which contains his rookie card. Note that O-Pee-Chee cards are typically more difficult to find in high grade than their Topps counterparts. This is due to lower quality card stock and printing standards. The front of the card features a young Gretzky in his Oilers uniform surrounded by blue borders. His name, position and the Edmonton Oilers team name sit across the top. The back features Gretzky’s personal information and statistics within a blue skate. There’s also a cartoon in the upper right with a small bit of information about Gretzky debuting at age 17 in French. This is the distinguishing characteristic from the Topps version along with the copyright information.
Offered is the highlight 1979 O-Pee-Chee Wayne Gretzky rookie card (#18). It is graded and encapsulated by PSA VG-EX 4.
