1979 Ozzie Smith Game-Worn, Signed Padres Jersey
Out of stock
The Wizard of Oz’s second of 19 major league seasons was 1979, when he was still playing shortstop for the Padres and their wearing brown and yellow.
This pullover knit is offered from the private collection of long-time Padres traveling secretary John Mattei. The styling is unique, the wear superb and the provenance rock solid. The brown knit V-neck main body is augmented by contrasting shoulder yokes and sleeves in bright yellow. All numeric identifiers and city name are sewn in two-color yellow-on-white, while the NOB is sewn in single-color onto an arched plate.
The lower left front tail sports a well-worn size “40” Wilson label, above which resides a “1 79” chain link swatch.
The Wizard himself has autographed the back number in black felt tip.
A perfect “10” specimen with outstanding wear from an extremely early juncture of Smith’s outstanding career. This fine offering has been graded MEARS A 10 (#306432). One of the only known Smith Padres gamers to survive.
